Anyway, a lot has happened within the past few months and I've been wanting to write an entry for the longest time but then I just never really had the chance to because of the lack of time and inspiration. I wanted to write this entry so that my blog will be updated and so that everyone viewing it will as well be.
Liverpool FC Badge
Not many people know it but my favorite football club ever is Liverpool F.C. This club has such a rich history that it makes its supporters treat the club as their own religion because of the prestige it brings about to the people due to its past successes. The Liverpool magic had definitely brushed up on me ever since I started supporting the club a couple of years back.
I started cheering for this prestigious club because my favorite player, Fernando Torres, was a member of this club. He was the best striker that they had back when he was still healthy and at his prime as a member of the Reds which made me idolize him because I play the same position as he does when I play football as well.
But then, Torres left for another club after a time when Liverpool was having not much success. He left for a rival club, Chelsea FC, wherein our very own Philippine football heroes Phil and James Younghusband, were former members of.
Despite him leaving, I still found myself cheering for this very esteemed football club. It was very much interesting because I have never felt the love of this kind for an athletic team ever. I guess that knowing so much about the history of the club got me attached to it even more. Without Torres, I idolized other Liverpool icons who were already established members of the club even before "El Nino" came along. These players were Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and goalkeeper Pepe Reina.
Liverpool lives by the slogan, "You'll Never Walk Alone", this is a title of a song which was adapted from the 1945 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Carousel and is popularly known to be performed by Gerry and the Pacemakers and it serves as the club's battle cry. These four words symbolize the never-ending support of the Kopites (fans of LFC) to the club as well as the camaraderie of all the players with one another showing that they will all stick together through thick and thin.
Even though the club has not had much success as it usually had before in the past few years, it still does feel good to support Liverpool. Despite finishing in the middle of the standings and sometimes even at the lower half for the last couple of years, this football club is still undeniably one of the most successful clubs in football history. With that, I can proudly say that I am one die-hard Liverpool fan.
Until the next time.
